English is hard.
English is even harder when you’re on live television doing the weather in the UK, where towns have ancient names and ancient sounds.
For Liam Dutton, however, this reality is just a minor part of his job as the weatherperson for Channel 4. Today, Dutton is an online sensation thanks to a broadcast from earlier this week. It was just like any other day. He delivered the weather report. He wore a suit and tie. He pronounced the town name on the screen.
That’s right, it was business as usual for Dutton and the town of Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch. (For the rest of us, Llanfairpwll or Llanfair PG will do just fine).
Cheers to Liam Dutton, his 4 million YouTube views (and counting), and cheers to the residents of Llanfair PG.
