Read the Emotional, Hand-Written Letter Eminem Penned to Tupac’s Mother After His Death

Eminem has always been a proud supporter of Tupac Shakur, and now those feelings are being showcased in an emotional letter from the days following the late rapper’s death.
Thanks to this Reddit thread, a heartfelt, handwritten letter from Marshall Mathers to Tupac’s mother Afeni Shakurhas surfaced, revealing a softer side of the rapper.
The note thanks Afeni for the inspiration that Tupac was – not only to Eminem, but to the hip-hop world in general.

“He was, and still is, the true definition of a ‘Soldier.’ When I was feeling at my worst (before fame, before Dre) I knew I could put that Tupac tape in, and suddenly, things weren’t so bad,” the rapper wrote.
Along with the letter, he also drew a portrait of Tupac, writing: “To: Afeni – your friend 4-ever! – Marshall.”

In his letter, Eminem apologizes if the drawing appears a “little sloppy” because he didn’t have the right pencils, which goes to show you how much of a perfectionist he truly is.
The letter now appears in the Tupac Amaru Shakur Center for the Arts in Georgia and was featured in the 2007 book, Tupac Remembered.
